Baby PHD Childcare Network

The Baby Ph.D. Childcare Network supports high quality, community based childcare for children 0-3 whose families live and work in the Hyde Park and University of Chicago Communities.

For Parents

Baby PhD staff assist parents to find childcare that fits their family's unique needs. We provide information and referrals to local childcare centers and home-based daycare providers. Referrals to nannies and nanny shares are also available. Families seeking childcare referrals are asked to complete a referral request form and pay a one-time, non-refundable consultation fee of $25.00.

For Childcare Providers

Baby PhD provides a variety of support services to childcare providers located in Hyde Park and surrounding neighborhoods. The level and type of support will depend on provider needs and interests. Our services include professional mentoring, assistance with planning and implementing developmentally informed daily activities and learning experiences, and centralized parent screening and referrals to fill open slots for infants, toddlers, and 2's.

Baby PhD Childcare Information Sessions

Baby PhD staff are available in HPNC's Parent Resource Center every Monday morning 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. for free, drop-in childcare information sessions. Discussion topics will vary according to the needs of participants but often include:

  • Pros and cons of different types of childcare settings available in the Hyde Park area
  • Introduction to how the Baby PhD Childcare Network can help you navigate your childcare decision making process
  • Introduction to professional development, contracting, and curriculum resources available through the Baby PhD Network for childcare providers and parents employing nannies
